    New Rooms at Sugar Beach

    November 04 2019

The mesmerising island paradise of Mauritius is a sensational holiday destination, perfect for an array of travellers, from discerning families and keen adventurers to cosy couples looking for a romantic retreat.

While the abundance of awe-inspiring tropical wonders might be among the most fabled features of this gorgeous island, there’s so much more here than initially meets the eye. Fabulous nature trails lead to majestic views, the local food scene alludes to the multitude of influences present in the very fabric of the country and museums and historical sites give insight to the island’s chequered past - Mauritius is as unique as it is fascinating.

If the island’s fascinating colonial past is something that interests you, then the ultimate hotel for your stay is undoubtedly the magnificent Sugar Beach resort, the luxury plantation-style hotel situated on the west coast of Mauritius, encompassed by pristine French-inspired gardens and lined by one of the best beaches on the island.

Apart from a thoughtful mix of old-world charm and modern luxury comforts, this hotel is known for its unparalleled array of daily activities, magical kids club, world-class spa and excellent dining establishments (a gastronomic experience at the new Buddha-Bar Beach is a must!). There’s no doubt about it; a stay at Sugar Beach is bound to be memorable.

And if the above wasn’t reason enough to visit this stunning hotel, then the fact that some of its elegant rooms have just gotten a revamp should be the deciding factor.

With the aim to constantly ensure that their guests receive the best possible experience at their resorts, Sun Resorts endeavour to renovate their hotels from time to time, and Sugar Beach has just completed its first phase of renovation.

With all that in mind, here’s what you need to know about the new rooms at Sugar Beach:

The newly-renovated rooms were recently unveiled

In August 2019, Sugar Beach unveiled a whopping 69 newly refurbished rooms in the resort’s northern village, which are now ready for guests to enjoy. The rooms are tastefully decorated with a neutral palette and natural elements (wood is used throughout the new rooms) that beautifully complement the gorgeous surrounds and make for truly tranquil spaces - these new rooms provide the ultimate places to rest and relax after a perfect day in the sun. Sophisticated and elegant, the renovated rooms are complete with five-star luxury comforts while staying true to the plantation-style feel of the resort.

Top interior designers were brought in to ensure only the finest quality designs, furnishings and fittings were used in the new rooms

To make sure the Sugar Beach renovations were of the highest quality all around, the top designers from Ateliers du Parc et Romeuf were brought in, and with a combination of their talent and expertise and Sugar Beach’s vision, these rooms are sure to impress even the most discerning guests.

One of the main designers on the project, Paule de Romeuf, explained the following: “We made it a point to respect the classic architecture of Sugar Beach by combining past and present for the interior spaces, for which simple lines have been given preference. The materials capture the very essence of elegance: solid oak for dressing areas, wide staff cornices, cement tiles and their peripheral frieze for the bathroom floor. Add to this the Glamora wallpaper which finds its inspiration in ancient tropical illustrations and brings to life a palette of timeless emotions.”

The Deluxe Family Suite and the Deluxe Ocean First Floor were the first rooms renovated

The rooms that were renovated in the first phase of the revamp were the Deluxe Family Suites and the Deluxe Ocean First Floor rooms. Here’s what you need to know about each of them:

    The Deluxe Family Suites (100m2)

These gorgeous and spacious ground floor rooms consist of a main bedroom (with a king-size bed) as well as an en-suite bathroom with separate shower and toilet and a freestanding bathtub. In the lounge, the sofa can convert into two twin beds for children. There is also an extra bathroom with separate shower and toilet. The lounge also has two lounge chairs, a 75-inch TV and a fully stocked minibar. The suites, which are housed in luxurious Creole-style villas, have private terraces with hanging chairs and boast either garden or sea views. Perfect for the whole family, these stunning rooms are all about “Family Lifestyle at Its Best”.

The Deluxe Ocean First Floor rooms (40m2)

The beautiful Deluxe Ocean First Floor rooms take the form of separate, luxurious Creole-style villas that come with a king-size bed, twin beds or two queen size beds, which can accommodate adults and children sharing a room. These rooms have a private balcony, are situated amongst exotic tropical gardens and boast exceptional views of the sea. They also have a separate toilet and shower and cots are available upon request.
